Vandi’s Winter Bridal Photography: Star Valley Wyoming

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Was it brisk?  Yeah, it was really brisk, but I was prepared.  Gloves, hat, winter coat, hand warmers.  If you live in an area that gets snow, you know the drill. Who would go out unprepared?  I certainly wouldn’t.  Especially when the temperature gets down to the single digits.  You’d have to be a little bit crazy to go out in the cold in just a wedding gown.  Unless . . . you want to get some amazing winter wedding photos.

Vandi happens to be my little sister. People used to say that we look alike. I used to get offended and assume that I looked like a girl.  This is one of the reasons that you’ll often find me sporting some sort of facial hair now-a-days.  Even though she is already married, the fact that she never had bridals prompted this winter wedding photo shoot over our Christmas vacation in Star Valley.  It was literally so cold that we only spent about 30 minutes shooting pictures.  That was including time sitting in the constantly running car to warm up every few minutes.

We had a ton of fun, and captured some awesome images.

Missy’s Winter Bridals: Star Valley Wyoming

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

While Bryant is off in Mexico shooting a wedding, I thought it would be appropriate to post some winter bridals. My hope is that he will check the blog while he is gone and have pity on those of us who are stuck back in Utah enduring the cold. Part of me hopes that he forgets to put sunblock on and comes back looking like something Red Lobster would envy.

When Missy and I got married, we were pretty much broke.  Funds were so tight that we decided to skip out on the bridals, and just have a photographer at the wedding.  We sometimes regret that we skipped the bridals.  While we were visiting my parents in Star Valley Wyoming for Christmas, we thought it might be fun to take some winter bridals.  I had a warm winter clothes on, and I was a bit chilled, yet Missy kept insisting that it wasn’t too bad (I couldn’t feel my fingers for part of the shoot).

One of the most difficult things about photography, at least for me, is deciding which way I want to go with the post processing.  Sometimes very natural looking images just look so good, others I just love the uniqueness that is added with some creative post processing.  For this post, I decided split some of my favorites up into groups depending on how they were processed.

This one is probably my favorite from the shoot.

Ciara’s Bridals: Ogden Utah

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I’ve had some ideas bouncing around my head for a while now.  Something different than my usual style of photography.  All I needed was someone willing to give it a shot.  Enter Ciara.

Ciara is a good friend and a fellow photographer (Check out her work at Fancy Bred Photography). I practically begged Ciara to be my subject.  Luckily she felt sorry for me (I tried to sound as desperate as possible), and agreed.  She even went so far to tell me that she was excited to wear her wedding dress again, since she has been married for a couple of years now.

This was such a fun shoot even though I nearly got hit by a car.  Hey, the shot was worth it.

One thing you have to remember about Ciara and her husband Brett is that they are ridiculously skilled at the board game Sequence.  They consistently beat us when we last played, even though I stacked the deck.  Seriously.
